Seven of Nine was born Anika Hansen; as a young girl her parents were deep space explores aboard the USS Raven in charge of surveying and tagging the borg.  She has lived the majority of her life in deep space after the Raven was assimilated by the borg.  Later Captain Janeway freed her from the collective; she has been struggling with her humanity ever since.
